A Logistic Engineering Specialist is a high profile person who coordinates and directs program activities right from the procurement stage to the shipment of products. The whole process of inventory, manufacturing planning and cost estimation comes under his purview. The Logistic Engineer ensures that the sub-contractors, the top-level management and the customers are all provided with effective and economical support regarding logistics technology. These specialists participate in the Product Life Cycle Management process and suggest valuable proposals for the development of the company. The job of the Logistic Engineering Specialist is a risky one, since it involves high administration at all times till the product reaches the retail shops or directly the hands of the customer.

The logistic engineer has numerous duties and is faced with challenges at every step of his job. Some of their responsibilities are listed below:
A bachelor's or a master's degree in Logistics Engineering, Industrial Engineering or any other related field of study like Warehouse Management is essential. It is also important to have a minimum experience of 5 years in functional areas like decision support systems/ technology, supply chain management in consumer products industry, logistics, transportation management, distribution and material procurement, etc.

- Coordinating with the production departments regarding the procurement, the inventory problems and field service personnel
- Resolving problems in logistics departments to ensure that contractual commitments are met
- Preparing brochures and information systems regarding the recent logistic achievements to provide support and strength to the logistics area of the company
- Collecting product data regarding standardization and the concept of interchangeability of parts in order to accelerate logistics proceedings
- Providing best plans for the transport of the products and raw materials from the vendors
- Performing technical studies, conducting special research and using critical management techniques to support logistic functions
- Utilizing modern computer software for analysis and real time simulation and performing documentation work for further quality audits
- Integrating the various methods to speed up production and shipping without compromising on the quality of the product
- Assisting employees to enhance performance and reach targets
- Documenting the methods and noting the changes that take during the revisions in each logistics operation
