An export logistics professional is responsible for managing export related concerns of a logistics department. Specific duties of an export logistics professional include receiving and processing routine customer orders; following up order activity throughout the order cycle; controlling shipments by scheduling loads verifying quantity and items; monitoring progress of shipments to destination; arranging for delivery of shipments to freight forwarders; handling order-related inquiries; issuing and handling export documents; providing suggestions for improving various export logistics processes; coordinating with vendors and people from various departments in the company; making use of Microsoft office applications; and performing several other tasks as required. An export logistics professional typically reports to a logistics manager.
An export logistics professional should have a high school diploma. An associate's degree or a bachelor’s degree is an asset. Prior experience in an export logistics setting is advantageous.
